HP has listed two nearly identical wireless multifunction laser printers on Amazon US: the LaserJet Pro MFP 4112dw (8X3F4A) and the LaserJet Pro MFP 4112fdw (8X3F2A). They share the same print, scan, and copy hardware, with one difference: the 4112fdw adds a built-in fax modem, while the 4112dw does not.

Pricing
The 4112dw (8X3F4A) carries a pre-order launch price of $499.00. At the time of writing it’s listed on Amazon US but shows as temporarily out of stock; it’s also listed on B&H Photo Video.
The 4112fdw (8X3F2A) is priced at $519.00 on Amazon US, the lowest price on Aug 18, 2026.
The One Real Difference: Fax
The 4112fdw includes a fax modem, transmitting at up to 33.6 kbps (defaulting to 14.4 kbps), rated at about 6 seconds per page on standard test images. Fax resolution reaches 300 x 300 dpi in black, fax memory holds up to 400 pages, and it stores up to 200 speed dial numbers. It also has an extra fax port in its standard connectivity list.
The 4112dw has no fax hardware. HP’s own listing describes it as supporting “print, copy, scan, fax” functions but notes fax itself is not supported on this particular model, so treat that line as boilerplate rather than a spec.
Shared Print, Scan, and Copy Specs
Both printers are rated for up to 47 ppm on letter paper and up to 45 ppm on A4, with a first page out as fast as 3.7 seconds on letter and 3.8 seconds on A4. Both print at up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi and default to automatic two-sided printing.
Scanning on both uses a flatbed and 50-sheet automatic document feeder with duplex ADF scanning, at up to 40 ppm / 66 ipm in black and white and up to 28 ppm / 40 ipm in color on letter paper, with 1,200 x 1,200 dpi optical resolution, saving to PDF, JPG, or TIFF.
Copy speed on both is up to 45 cpm in black on A4, at up to 600 x 600 dpi, with up to 999 copies per job and reduce/enlarge settings from 25% to 400%.
Shared AI Features
Both printers include HP’s AI Precise Print, which according to HP removes unwanted content from web pages and emails before printing, and both generate automatic subject lines, file names, and summaries for scan-to-email jobs.
Shared Connectivity, Security, and Build
Both use Gigabit Ethernet, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (device and host), walk-up USB, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi with Bluetooth Low Energy, with AirPrint and Mopria support and the HP app for mobile printing. Both are compatible with Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS Sonoma, Sequoia, and Tahoe, Android, iOS, and a range of Linux distributions.
Both use self-healing Wi-Fi that reconnects automatically after detecting anomalies, and HP states both are among the first printers built to resist quantum computer attacks. Security management on both includes SNMP v1/v2/v3, SSL/TLS (HTTPS), and 802.1x authentication, with WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 on the wireless side.
Both share a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, 512MB of memory, 100-sheet Tray 1 plus 250-sheet Tray 2 (expandable with an optional 550-sheet tray), a 150-sheet output bin, and a 50-sheet ADF. Power draw on both is 548 watts while printing, 8.1 watts idle, and 1.08 watts asleep. Both measure 420 x 386 x 307mm without trays extended and weigh about 12.2kg with cartridge installed. Both carry a one-year Bench/Depot Repair warranty, extendable to three years depending on registration and region.
What’s in the box (both models):
- 1 x Printer
- 1 x Preinstalled HP Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge (3,000-page yield)
- 1 x Hardware Install Guide
- 1 x Regulatory Flyer
- 1 x Power cord

Replacement cartridges for both are the HP 161A (~3,000 pages, part W1610A) and higher-yield HP 161X (~10,000 pages, part W1610X). HP states both printers only work with cartridges carrying original HP chips or circuitry, enforced through firmware updates.
